On the Road to Health & Wellness
Our program, the Weight Loss Coach, focuses on losing weight through mindful living.
Our 12-week weight loss program is designed to:
- assist clients to shed pounds
- control portions
- reduce cravings
- integrate healthy habits
Within a 12-week period the client learns to set realistic goals to lose 5% to 7% of his/her body weight.
The Weight Loss Coach encourages clients to be mindful of caloric intake and as well as eating nutritiously.
The client learns to stay focused on his/her weight loss goal, while gradually changing behaviors.
Weekly sessions support the client’s efforts to achieve his/her goals.
The Weight Loss Coach works with the client to let go of past emotions connected to weight or yo-yo dieting.
Program Justification / Rationale:
According to a landmark report published in the New England Journal of Medicine, 57% of subjects were able to lose weight and keep their weight off for more than a year when they worked with a health and wellness coach, than those who were on their own. A weight loss of even ten poungs can make a huge difference in one's health.
Losing 10 pounds can make a huge difference in your health.
The Weight Loss Coach also incorporates the following::
- limit fat and calorie consumption
- track food intake
- learn portion control
- food shopping and label reading
- address yo-yo dieting, why fad diets don't work
- uncovering unconscious and emotional eating
- recognize triggers to overeat
- get at least 150 minutes of exercise each week, preferably 20 minutes per day
- devise strategies to avoid gaining back lost weight
